God So Loved The World
For God so loved the world of thought,
That from His heart a vision wrought;
The Son begotten, pure, unseen,
An image born where minds convene.
Imagination is that God—
Not distant, high, nor strange, nor odd,
But power dwelling in the soul,
The secret life that makes us whole.
He gave His Son—an inner flame,
An unseen word, a pictured name;
The wish held fast, the dream embraced,
By faith and feeling clothed and traced.
Whoso believeth—heart aligned,
Shall see the world by love designed;
For faith creates, and doubts decay,
And shadows yield to light of day.
Not perishing in fear or strife,
But crowned with everlasting life;
For life is mind made manifest,
And he who trusts is ever blessed.
So read this verse, not creed alone,
But law of seed in self once sown:
Believe the truth imagination gives—
And in that faith, eternal lives. —John 3:16
